Governor of Cairo Dr. Osama Kamal granted a certificate of appreciation to the Breast Cancer Foundation of Egypt (BCFE) in recognition of its efforts and cooperation with the Egyptian Food Bank's "Mega Project to Develop Villages".

This came during a celebration hosted by the Egyptian Food Bank to honor charity organizations who participated in the Mega Project. Mr. Mustafa Murad, Deputy Governor of the Southern Region of Cairo, and Mr. Moez El Shohdy, Executive Director of the Food Bank, witnessed the celebration with a number of sponsors.

The project aims to develop and make a positive impact in 100 Egyptian villages in the poorest areas and the most needing for services over a period of 10 years at a rate of 10 villages per year. BCFE organized breast cancer awareness campaigns during 2012 in ten areas in Cairo and Giza including Ezbet Khairallah, Al Kom Al Ahmar, Masaken El Zalzal Moqattam, Manshiat Nasser, and Ezbet Al Haggana. 458 women received BCFE's services in this campaign. Two women were diagnosed with cancer, whereas 11 women were diagnosed with benign tumors.

This cooperation stems from BCFE's belief in the importance of raising awareness of early detection to combat breast cancer in Egypt.
